The Save America Treasure work at the theatre has included:
Frescoed Painting Investigation: Conrad Schmitt Studios, a national renowned firm, was chosen by their extensive experience with such theatres as the Wang Theatre and the Waldorf Astoria, to assess the paintings in the fourth floor. Exquisite sample restorations were completed and investigative work completed on the entire fourth floor, the main seating floor and balcony, and the proscenium of the Majestic Theatre.
Moisture Control: Specifications are being written for the control of moisture seepage through the 152 year old limestone foundation and brick exterior. Once the moisture is adequately contained, the interior plaster will be repaired and the carpet will be replaced.
Stain glass windows: The stain glass windows installed in 1904 by A.R. Wolf are significantly bowing. Appropriate repairs will be conducted to preserve the lobby and balcony level windows.
Projector Repair: Assessment/Repair/Replacement of the current Projector system, screen, and sound system. Preservation of historically significant mechanisms.
Security System Repair: The current security system was inoperable. The security system has been repaired and upgraded to include 16 cameras to insure the protection of the theatre’s interior and exterior.
Dressing Room Repair: Specifications are being written for the repair of the current six dressing rooms. Proposed specifications include a drop ceiling to protect deterioting historical ceiling, installation of counters to replace plywood work surfaces. Mirrors will affixed to walls as well as appropriate and adequate lighting.
Heating System Upgrade: Emergency repairs were performed to the Boiler system in order to maintain minimal climate control. Further repairs were completed to ensure accurate heating and cooling systems. |
